Hello! My name is Ashley Diaz, owner & sole operator of K9 Ascent.

I opened business in 2014 on a mission to create happier & healthier pets through exceptional pet care. I lived by the slogan: a tired dog is a happy dog! But through the years, I found that physical exercise alone was not enough to fulfill the dogs I worked with and I began studying more about training & enrichment.

Today, my services incorporate exercise, exploration & engagement, creating a more holistic & fulfilling experience for our dogs. We venture to different parks, trails & neighborhoods to explore new sights, smells & sounds. And we work to engage the mind through basic positive reinforcement training; all while exercising & socializing with a small group of furry friends.

I believe the canine-human relationship thrives when centered around respect for our unique needs as different species, compassion in knowing we are all on an individual journey & a genuine love for our dogs, each other & ourselves.

My work in the outdoors began at the University of Hawaii, while volunteering with the Wild Dolphin Foundation. This experience ignited a passion for our planet, it’s inhabitants and opened my eyes to the interconnection of all life. I’ve carried this understanding into my everyday life & my work with dogs in the outdoors.

After graduating from the University of Hawaii, I returned to our beautiful Pacific Northwest & pursued my passions & interests from tourism & hospitality to art & photography, always pet-sitting and dog walking on the side. I quickly realized my true love was working hands-on with animals and dog walking became my full-time gig. I am a lifelong learner and enjoy studying everything dog. I've attended training courses, seminars & continue to learn alongside trusted mentors in the world of dogs. Always growing, I aim to use my experience & knowledge to be your dog's compassionate guide & loving companion.

When I’m not walking & talking dogs, you can find me snuggling with my two cats (Tiny & Tiger) or playing with my dog (Bailey). A member of The Mountaineers, I love exploring the beauty of the Pacific Northwest whether hiking, biking or paddleboarding. On rainy days, you might find me with a paintbrush in my hand, doing puzzles or teaching my dog a new trick!

For as long as I can remember, I have deeply valued the connection between human, animal & our natural world.
