What will we do during our meet & greet?

 

Meet & greets take place in your home and give us the opportunity to get to know each other, and most importantly, for your pet(s) to get to know me! This is a great time to tell me all about your pet(s), including their daily routine, personality, behavior “quirks” (ex: I love to chase squirrels!) and anything else you would like to share. The more I know about your pet, the better prepared I will be to give your pet the best care possible! For pet sitting services, we will also go over any household tasks you would like done while you’re away. If you decide to move forward, this is a good time to exchange keys.

 

Are you licensed, bonded and insured?

 

Yes, K9 Ascent is licensed, bonded and insured through Pet Sitters Associates. I am also Pet CPR & First Aid Certified through the American Red Cross.

 

What happens during a typical group walk?

 

Your dog will be picked up from your home and loaded up into the car. Depending on that day's schedule and where you are located on the pick-up route, your dog may enjoy the ride during 1-2 other pick-ups. Then we head to a local trail, neighborhood or park to unload. Your dog will enjoy 45-60 minutes of paws on the ground, active time during a leashed walk with a buddy or small group. During our walks, we take time to practice leash manners, basic commands and always a sit-stay for our group photo! We also dedicate “free” time to sniff, potty & socialize. After your dog is tuckered out from social time with their friends, they will be loaded up for their transportation home. Once your dog is returned home, you will receive a text update with photo of our adventure!

 

What happens during a typical private walk?

 

Private walks take place around your neighborhood. I will greet and leash your dog in your home and then head out for our walk! The timer starts once we are leashed and out the door, maximizing your dogs active time. During our walks, we get plenty of exercise while practicing good leash manners, basic obedience and enjoying “free” time to sniff & potty. On extra rainy or hot days, we may spend a portion of our time playing or practicing obedience inside. After your dog is walked, you will receive a text update and photo.

What happens during a cat sitting visit?

Cat sitting visits are designed to take care of both your cats & your home while you're away. They will include all necessary cat care, from feeding & cleaning to play time & loving affection. Any household tasks that can be completed within your 15- or 30-minute visit are also included. This could include bringing in the mail, taking out the trash, watering plants, rotating lights and more. Do you have other small animals needing care? We are happy to provide care for your other small animals for an additional $5 per pet.

Do you charge extra for multiple pets?

Dog walking rates are for 1 dog. An additional $10 is charged for each additional dog in the same household.

Cat sitting rates are for up to 2 cats. An additional $5 is charged for each additional cat thereafter.

Do you offer pet sitting for dogs?

 

I do not offer overnight pet sitting or boarding. Drop-in pet sitting visits for dogs can be arranged on a case-by-case basis. These services include up to 2 visits per day, morning and night. Because most dogs require more frequent potty breaks & attention, we are not comfortable offering this service to all dogs. If you have a dog whose regular routine is to go outside twice per day, or you have a doggy-door to allow them more freedom throughout the day, pet sitting visits may be arranged.

 

What if it’s too hot for walks?

 

When the weather gets above 75-80 degrees, we take extra precautions to ensure your dog is safe & comfortable. On hotter days, we try to enjoy shadier parks or grassy areas and avoid hot pavement. If necessary, we will shift walks to earlier in the day or shorten our active time outside. Water is always provided.

 

What if it’s too rainy for walks?

 

We walk rain or shine! If your dog does not like to walk in the rain, we will take a shorter potty break and spend the rest of the time playing inside. Otherwise, we dress for the weather and walk anyway! Please provide a raincoat and/or towel to dry off during rainy days. 

When will I be billed and how do I pay?

 

For regular dog walking clients, services are billed monthly and invoices will be sent via email at the end of each month with details on how to pay. For pet sitting clients, services are billed at the end of your trip and invoices will be sent via email.

How will I know when you’ve visited?

 

All services include a text update with photo after every visit.

 

How do I schedule/cancel services?

What is your cancellation policy?

I require 24 hours notice of any cancellations for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled service will be charged a $10 cancellation fee. In unusual circumstances, I may have to cancel services due to severe weather. You will be notified as soon as possible on the day of service if I need to cancel due to unsafe weather conditions or predictions that prevent me from getting to your home. This may include but is not limited to snow/ice on the roads, heavy rain/flooding, severe wind, thunderstorms or unsafe temperatures. You will not be charged for services cancelled due to severe weather.

 

Do you offer services on Holidays?

 

Regularly scheduled dog walks are not offered on major holidays. Cat sitting services are offered based on availability for a 50% surcharge. Holidays include New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Thursday & Friday, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If special circumstances arise and additional services are needed, they can be requested but not guaranteed.

What if you are unavailable to walk my dog?

K9 Ascent is solely owned & operated by myself, Ashley Diaz. I do my best to be reliable & available for my regular dog walking clients year round. You will be notified in advance if I need to take time off or cancel walks for any reason (vacation, appointments, personal reasons, etc.). Alternate dog walking arrangements will be your responsibility.
